Aaron Robert, born January 5th, 2008. Everyone is happy and healthy!

I may be the biggest slacker blogger that there is. It could have something to do with my dealing with the internet for my job that makes me never want to post anything here, or I could just be extremely lazy. At any rate, I’m going to endeavor to do better. Cross your fingers.

So after my Jeep’s radiator decided to nearly blow up for the 4th time now, I’ve jedi mind tricked my dear wife and now have a motorcycle once more. This is actually a really practical move for us, I can park the jeep and save a ton of money on gas for it. Plus, I love bikes and really missed having one. I ended up getting a pretty good deal on a 2007 Honda Rebel from the local cycle shop here. Financed out, the payments are only 70 bucks a month and add 10 bucks a month for gas and it comes out the same as driving the Jeep and buying gas for it. The Rebel is a nice little bike. It’s not got a ton of power with only a 250cc engine, but it is certainly fast enough for the highways around here. Though I will mostly ride surface streets on it and commute to work. It’s very comfortable and rides really smooth and it gets 70mpg. Plus it sits really low and for a short guy like me, I can easily put my feet down on it. I plan on getting a windshield for it soon to give it a little better aerodynamics and even better mileage. Here’s a pic of my snazzy new ride.

YAY! At long last, I finally have some letters after my name. I scored over 90% on the RHCE exam!

I am very proud since this is my first certification and it’s a good one to have. I am a Debian zealot and used FreeBSD a lot at my last job, so I had to absorb a good bit of Redhat specific stuff quickly. I feel really good about that, but must credit to the training course my employer offered. It was great preparation for some of the odd things I don’t do often being a sysadmin. This was a really tricky test also. I’m very happy to have passed and earned this certification. It feels really good.

So I have most everything moved over to the new server. I decided to just point ballclan.org to the gallery page for Ally’s pics since I didn’t ever use much of the other stuff on there. More to come…
